Sylvia Hernández is a celebrated master quilter who creates work addressing community and human-rights issues. Sylvia exhibits nationally and internationally. She is a member of the Studio Art Quilt Association and the American Quilters Society and served as president of the Quilters Guild of Brooklyn from 2011–15. She teaches at El Puente Academy for Peace and Justice and Independence Senior Center, and has worked with AgitArte, a social-justice group that leads educational programs in marginalized communities.
